DMAR's November 2018 Ballot Guide

Candidates and issues receiving DMAR’s endorsement were carefully vetted by our Candidate Interview and Government Affairs Committees as well as the Board of Directors. Candidates were endorsed based upon their positions on issues that impact the real estate industry. The November 2018 ballot is the longest in the State’s history! We hope this guide will help inform your decisions in a busy election season.

State Ballot Initiatives

✅ Vote Yes on Amendments Y & Z – Prevents gerrymandering and creates competitive congressional and legislative districts so all Colorado voters can be heard.

❌ Vote No on Amendment 73 – We all want to do more to fund education, but this is a three-headed tax increase that will diminish wages, hurt small business and increase property taxes.

❌ Vote No on Amendment 74 – Too many unintended consequences that will bankrupt local governments and cost Colorado tax payers billions in a matter of years.

✅ Vote Yes on Proposition 110 – The only transportation measure on the ballot that will generate the dollars we need to reduce congestion and repair our deteriorating roads and bridges.

❌ Vote No on Proposition 112 – Colorado would lose billions in tax revenue and 100,000+ jobs, a vast majority of which would be outside the oil and gas industry.

Local Ballot Initiatives

✅ Vote Yes on Denver Measure 2A – A dedicated sales tax increase to generate ~$46 million annually for parks construction and maintenance in the City & County of Denver.

✅ Vote Yes on Denver Measure 2B – A charter amendment that changes the way the City & County of Denver calculates the number of signatures required for a citizen’s initiative to make the ballot.

❌ Vote No on Denver Measure 2E – A measure that would require $8 million in tax payer dollars to fund candidate campaigns in the City & County of Denver. DMAR does not support 2E solely because tax payer dollars should be spent on essential services such as housing, rather than funding candidate campaigns.

✅ Vote Yes on Lakewood Measure 2D – Allows the City to keep additional revenues that will go towards parks and open space acquisition, police and road repairs.

✅ Vote Yes on Jeffco Public Schools Measures 5A & 5B – Measures that will provide Jefferson County Schools with much needed funding to increase teacher salaries, expand student programs and bolster school construction and maintenance.
