Continuing Education & Renewals

State of Colorado Continuing Education Requirements
The Colorado Division of Real Estate (DORA) handles all real estate license renewal issues and questions. Continuing education delinquencies are enforced by random audits. The responsibility of managing CE credits falls to the Realtor®.

Annual Commission Update
All Realtors® are required to take this course every year. The commission, also known as the Division of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), will make available an updated version of this class every January. For each three-year license cycle, all active real estate brokers must complete 24 hours of continuing education.

Designation Courses
Designations are specialized credentials for Realtors®. Designations offer extensive benefits which are continually improved upon and expanded. For this reason, maintaining a designation requires annual dues and continued membership in NAR. Designations have specific core course and elective course requirements, both of which may serve as approved education credits toward other NAR credentials.

Certification Courses
Like designations, certifications are also specialized credentials for Realtors®. The benefits they offer hold high value but are not as extensive as those for designations. For this reason, maintaining certification requires only an application fee and continued membership in NAR, but no annual dues. Certifications have specific course requirements which may serve as approved education credits toward other NAR credentials. For a list of designation and certification courses, click here.
