REALTOR® vs. Real Estate Agent

E is for “exposure”
A REALTOR® is like a personal marketing powerhouse. A large share of real estate sales comes as the result of a REALTOR’S® contacts – not advertising. REALTORS® coordinate with their extended network in order to best serve clients’ needs quickly. REALTORS® are members of the NAR, and required to follow a strict Code of Ethics. These standards are more restrictive than those of real estate licensees, which helps to regulate the industry. By following the Code of Ethics, REALTORS® are committed to providing the highest level of service and expertise.
L is for “learning”
REALTORS® help consumers navigate a complex process. In addition to upholding the Code of Ethics, REALTORS® are required to continue pursuing education, taking mandatory classes to stay up-to-date on the latest industry standards and practices, and help consumers prepare the best deal and avoid delays or mistakes.Whether attending classes, webinars or meetings at the national, state, or local level, REALTORS® pledge to know the business inside and out.
T is for “trends”
REALTORS® are also focused on staying current with what’s happening in the marketplace, and the industry as a whole. By knowing features like price, neighborhood statistics, financing, or terms of competing properties, REALTORS® get homes sold quickly at the best price with as little difficulty as possible.
O is for “objective voice”
Homebuying and selling is an emotional process for most consumers. Having an objective, third party helps consumers to stay focused and achieve their goals. By affiliating themselves with NAR, REALTORS® pledge to put their clients’ interests first.
R is for “review”
Consumers aren’t expected to be experts in buying and selling homes. That’s why REALTORS® are prepared to help with negotiations, adjusting purchase agreements, advising investigations and inspections, or even valuing properties and repairs.
