Day at the Races | Post Event Recap
On August 7, 2015 the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® (DMAR) hosted its second annual Day at the Races event, held at the Arapahoe Park Racetrack.
The Derby-themed race day event, a fundraiser for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), allowed DMAR to raise awareness and money for an important cause in a way that was both fun and engaging for members as well as their family and friends.
This year’s event was clearly a successful one for DMAR! Over 200 people attended and through ticket sales, donations, and tickets for door prize drawings, DMAR raised $13,959 for RPAC. Because RPAC enables REALTORS® to support candidates that support the issues that are important to their profession and livelihood, DMAR continues to work to increase awareness for this important cause. RPAC is a way for all real estate professionals to make their voice heard in local, statewide, and federal issues that impact their business and the real estate industry and is a very worthy committee to support.
Karen Frisone, K.O Real Estate founder and DMAR Director, commented on the importance of supporting RPAC and why she decided to be a major investor at the event:
"I really appreciate the work that RPAC does with legislation and policy making in Washington. They protect the values of homeowners and REALTORS®. All the work they do is phenomenal and needs to be out there in the mainstream more."
DMAR's passion for advocacy is demonstrated in members' level of generosity and devotion to RPAC and all it supports. Last year, DMAR became the first association in Colorado history to ever surpass $100K in RPAC contributions. So far this year, the association has raised over $71K, which means they are already halfway to their 2015 goal of $130K.
In addition to raising money and awareness for a worthy cause, Day at the Races was also an enjoyable family-focussed event. Guests were able to enjoy food and drinks, mingle, purchase door prize tickets to be eligible for over 20 prizes including a grand prize diamond and sapphire ring, learn to bet on horse races during a “Place Your Bets Seminar,” and enjoy horse races. New to this year’s event were three contests for Best Dressed Male, Best Dressed Female, and Best Hat.
