Government Affairs Update

Your Government Affairs Committee and DMAR’s government affairs staff continue to achieve meaningful advocacy results that protect property rights and promote an environment where your business can thrive. This month, DMAR members testified in support of Lakewood’s updated zoning code, which aims to diversify the types of housing available in the city and help more individuals move from renting to owning. DMAR is proud to support the updated zoning code, as it will unlock attainable and sustainable homeownership for more members of the community while promoting responsible growth.

DMAR members also testified in support of Commerce City’s ordinance to expand consumer choice on the installation of fire sprinkler systems in new homes. We are proud to champion consumer choice, safety and education, empowering homebuyers and owners to make the decisions that best meet their needs.

As the Voice of Real Estate® in the Denver Metro Area, DMAR puts our members’ experience and expertise at the forefront of our advocacy efforts. If you would like to get involved with the Government Affairs Committee or learn more about advocacy opportunities, please contact Lauren Cecil and Colton Arciniaga.

Election Update

DMAR is proud to present the 2025 Election Endorsement Guide, created to help you navigate the November 4 election with confidence. Inside, you’ll find candidate endorsements highlighting leaders who support homeownership, housing, property rights and collaboration on key community issues. Each endorsement was made following a careful and thorough vetting process by DMAR’s candidate interview teams and Government Affairs Committee.

RPAC Update

What is RPAC? The Realtor® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is made up of voluntary contributions from members. RPAC supports candidates who understand the real estate industry, homeownership and private property rights at the local, state and national levels. RPAC exists to amplify the collective voice of Realtors®, ensuring elected officials understand the impact of their legislative actions on our business.  Where the voices of individuals can often be ignored, our cumulative voices provide the opportunity to inform elected officials and champion Realtor® values.

Getting involved with RPAC is important because government decisions directly impact the profitability of real estate professionals. RPAC is the largest, most successful and most bipartisan PAC in the nation. As Realtors®, we have two choices: we can either be players in the political process or become victims of it. RPAC is how Realtors® secure and maintain a seat at the table.

Your investment in RPAC advances your business and is an investment in your community. It enables government affairs efforts and supports candidates who promote and protect the real estate industry right here in the Denver Metro Area. Year-to-date, we have raised $89,176, which is 39 percent of our $226,081 goal. Make a difference and have a direct impact by investing in RPAC today! [LINK] donating to RPAC today!

Contributions to RPAC are voluntary and used for political purposes. They are not deductible for income tax purposes. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal, and the National Association of Realtors® or any of its state associations or local boards will not favor or disfavor any member because of the amount contributed. 70% of each contribution is used by your state PAC to support state and local political candidates. Until your state reaches its RPAC goal, 30% is sent to National RPAC to support federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 2 U.S. C. 441a; after the state PAC reaches its RPAC goal it may elect to retain your entire contribution for use in supporting state and local candidates.
