The Housing Market Shows Signs of Softening—Has It Topped Out?

Hope for Greater Inventory as Home Sales Slip Again
Limited housing supply and strong buyer demand caused existing-home sales to drop for the fourth consecutive month, falling 0.9% in May, the National Association of REALTORS® reported Wednesday. Still, sales were up 44.6% year over year, according to NAR. The median price for an existing home reached $350,300. Read More

New Home Sales Fall Short of Expectations, but Dropping Lumber Prices Could Provide Breathing Room
New home sales dropped by a larger-than-expected amount, falling to the lowest level in a year. New home sales occurred at a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 769,000 in May, the U.S. Census Bureau reported Wednesday. The figure represented a 5.9% drop from the previous month’s revised figure, but was up 9.2% from a year ago. Read More

HUD, others unveil plan to increase Black homeownership
More than 100 groups threw their weight behind the effort, including industry trade associations such as the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of Real Estate Brokers.
