Desperate buyers battled low supply, causing home prices to spike in metro Denver last month
Buyers in metro Denver scrambled to grab a property last month before rising mortgage rates put a purchase out of reach, setting the stage for what could become another year of double-digit home price gains. “With the continued demand and lack of inventory, prices will increase and lead to another year of double-digit appreciation,” predicted Andrew Abrams, chairman of the DMAR Market Trends Committee in comments included in the “Market Trends Report.” Read More
Metro Denver and Colorado Springs both make list of country’s 10 least affordable housing markets
Metro Denver moved up four spots to eighth least affordable, while Colorado Springs rose one spot to 10th in February’s ranking, which looks at the ratio of the median home sold price to median household incomes. Denver had an unaffordability ratio of 5.67, based on a median home sold price, including condos, of $540,000, which ranked fourth-highest, and now ahead of New York City and Boston. Read More
Denver Sets New Record Home Price Amid Surge in Bidding Wars
Denver is not supposed to see record home prices during the winter months. Spring and summer tend to be hotter seasons, from both a temperature and a sales perspective. But according to the March report from the Denver Metro Association of Realtors®, the real estate market in the metro area has again defied expectations, with the average price for a detached home landing at just shy of $740,000, surpassing the old mark by more than $10,000. Volatile mortgage rates rise to 3.85% amid war, record inflation
Mortgage rates rose 9 bps to 3.85% for the week ending March 10, which Freddie Mac economists attributed to rising inflation and uncertainty about the war in Ukraine. Read More
