Urgent Message to Members: Changes to SentriLock's One Day Codes

SentriLock has announced that starting Monday, April 1st, they will no longer allow third-party scheduling services like BrokerBay or ShowingTime to generate One Day Codes. Moving forward, if you wish to access lockboxes, you will need to download and utilize a SentriLock application after scheduling an appointment through ShowingTime.

Dear DMAR Members,

SentriLock has announced that starting Monday, April 1st, they will no longer allow third-party scheduling services like BrokerBay or ShowingTime to generate One Day Codes. Moving forward, if you wish to access lockboxes, you will need to download and utilize a SentriLock application after scheduling an appointment through ShowingTime.

We realize that this change may cause frustration, particularly for those members who do not use SentriConnect®, as the process may become more complex. We have been actively communicating with SentriLock to express the concerns of our members and are currently working closely with them to explore alternative solutions that balance security and convenience. We want to assure you that we are committed to finding a resolution that meets the needs of our members. We will continue to provide updates as soon as they become available.

Here's what to expect starting April 1:

  • ShowingTime will no longer generate One Day Codes for SentriLock lockboxes. Please note that any code created before April 1 will still be valid and will not be revoked. 
  • ShowingTime will continue to schedule appointments for listings in the SentriLock system. No changes are being made to the way ShowingTime delivers appointment notifications.
  • Those who are SentriKey® Real Estate (SKRE) subscribers (with proper reciprocity, if applicable) should use the SKRE app to access SentriLock lockboxes during scheduled appointments.
  • Non-SentriLock subscribers such as out-of-area agents and affiliates will contact the listing agent for a One Day Code or SentriConnect® access.
  • Some listing agents have concerns about low data connectivity at some listings and provide One Day Codes as a backup. To enhance the security of this method of access, SenriLock advises those who create the codes to include the name and contact information of the recipient.
  • Lockbox owners as well as office staff, assistants and team members can still create and send One Day Codes and Flex Codes to showing agents as needed; however, third-party vendors will no longer be able to generate these codes.

Changes for ShowingTime Customers
If you're accustomed to using ShowingTime for scheduling, please note the following adjustments:

  • Users will now see indications in both the ShowingTime app and email notifications that the property is equipped with a SentriLock lockbox.
  • Buyer's agents will either need to download and utilize a SentriLock application or coordinate directly with the listing agent to obtain access.
  • Listing agents may be required to manually grant access or generate a code from the SentriLock system for all appointments.
